310 MEMBERS ATTEND FIRST EVER MEMBERS NIGHT AT THE BATA HOTEL, EAST TILBURY
Members Attend From Seventeen Different Counties
Three hundred and ten members and guests, travelled from seventeen different counties, to attend the Bata Hotel Ballroom, East Tilbury, for our first ever members night, a JLAS Get Together.
Although the evening was advertised to commence at 7.30pm, guests had started to arrive ninety minutes earlier, a few had rooms booked in the Hotel.
At seven thirty, we played the James Last intro music from James Last Live, this was followed by the medley Help Yourself, Mrs Robinson & Its Time To Go. We had hoped our members and guests would dance a quickstep, the medley appeared to be playing for ages before our first couple took to the floor, and by the time Help Yourself gave way to Mrs Robinson, around fifty couples were on the floor.
The format for the evening was very simple, on arrival, the members introduce themselves to each other, seven thirty we start dancing, around nine thirty, it's buffet time, followed by a raffle, and more dancing until closing time, this night, at midnight.
The dancers even climbed on the stage, just as they had done so, at James Last concerts. Our evening concluded with Get Back, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da and La Felicidad, just as the concerts do.
When's the next get together, everybody was asking, in the next few months we were to visit Bristol and Castle Donington, and we returned to East Tilbury.

JLAS RECRUITS MEMBER NUMBER 1600
Just before Christmas, we enrolled member number 1600. Although the James Last Appreciation Society was formed for members in the United Kingdom, we now have members in Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, Canada, Malta and the Channel Islands.
